ABOUT US
What is Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC)?
-
An Air Force program designed to offer high school students’ leadership and followership experiences, and to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community”.
-
Not an USAF accessions program and cadets are NEVER under any obligation to join the military,
-
A Congressionally-mandated citizenship training program. It is designed to educate and train students in citizenship, promote community service, instill personal responsibility, character, and self-discipline.
-
There are more than 870 units in high schools world-wide with over 90,000 cadets.
How do we meet our objectives:
-
Teach courses about flight, world geography, leadership, uniform wear, organization, drill, & physical fitness (PT).
-
Cadets are empowered to run the program. A cadet staff is competitively selected and given a multitude of responsibilities to manage many facets of the program with oversight from both instructors.
-
We expect cadets to maintain good grades, come to school, and behave. Why? An assortment of rewards, opportunities, and fun await for all cadets:
-
Participate in 6 after-school clubs.
-
Join our ceremonial color guard teams.
-
Participate in 9 field trips per year.
-
Participate in numerous community service events.
-
Join our drill or color guard traveling competitive teams.
-
Prepare/attend summer Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) at The Citadel.
